Tips For Budget Gaming

Videogames are a wonderful experience for those who enjoy gaming either with yourself or other people. If you’re like me, you’re thinking $60 for a videogame is just too much, especially in this weak economy. I came up with these money saving tips where you can do all your gaming on a budget.

Look up weekly ads from your local retailer.
This is absolutely the best way to see if a game you want is on sale. Deals include a BOGO (By One, Get One) sale, retailers slash prices $10 to $20 per game or receiving a gift card with your purchase. Make sure to check every retailer’s ads to see what games are on sale.

Go to the bargain/clearance section of your local retailer.
Never dismiss the games in the clearance section! You may find a gem in a pile of coal. For example, I got a copy of Heavenly Sword that regularly priced at $59.99 for $14.97 on clearance at Sears! Buying items on clearance is a great way to stock up on games you always wanted to play.

Check out online retailers for sales.
If you don’t mind waiting a couple of days, purchasing games online is another great way to save a couple of bucks. Every day, Amazon features their game deal of the week which is pretty awesome. Also check out Newegg, GoGamer, and others for deals.

Used games are a way to go!
Used games are another cheap alternertive to buying on the cheap, as they cost below the retail price. There are big chain stores like Gamestop or Blockbuster Video, but if you don’t like how they do business, Gamefly is your best bet. Their prices on used games are usually lower and in good condition. Another site is Gamestaq where you buy used games directly from the seller where there is no middle man involved.

Purchase Platinum/Greatest Hits Games
Usually, when a game sells a million copies or more they make it to the Platinum/Greatest Hits collection. The games are half of what they usually cost and come in different packaging. Games range from Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid 4, Forza 2 and many more.

I hope these tips are useful to gamers who can’t afford full price for games. If you have tips of your own, please feel free to post them in the comments section.
