Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines arrived from gamefly and I was very excited to get my hands on a fun action game to play while riding the train to work.
Does it live up to my expectations?
The game starts up and I am greeted by the opening movie of Altair slashing his way through Templars and climbing to the top of mountain to over look the sea and the camera rotates to see the sun low in the sky and Templar ships in the harbor… All very beautiful but that’s a fmv and it’s supposed to be. The shock comes when you start the game and you see it really is a pretty game, the visuals for this game are really some of the best in a PSP game but we know that graphics don’t make the game so let’s talk about the story and gameplay.
The story takes place after the end of AC and Altair is on a mission to find some items of mystery that the Templars are attempting to recover and sail away with. The story takes place on the island of Cyprus, where the Templars are archiving the items and enslaving and abusing the inhabitants. You as Altair, first must find and assist the resistance, who in turns gives you info to continue your mission to infiltrate and assasinate Templars. There are side mission which you can choose to engage in and they are good fun.
The controls are something that needs to be worked on, while climbing isn’t horrible, I did find myself stuck several times in walls and on edges. Also the attacking isn’t as fluid as I would have preferred and most combat ends up with holding the block button and countering over and over. Despite these issues the game plays well due to the lock on mechanic, that helps with throwing knives and choosing who to attack in a crowd.
The game also has a AC2 sync option that unlocks weapons (to be bought at the store and they are the weapons of your enemies in boss battles) and transfers money (Templars coins in AC: Bloodlines vs Florins in AC2), which is a cool addition to it.
All in all the game is worth a purchase (at 29.99 or lower is best) and is a ok addition to the series and your psp collection.

I discovered that the weapons are actually in Mario’s mansion to TAKE FOR FREE. Not for sale as i wrote.
Is it as repetitive and boring as the original AC? Or fantastic with a great story like AC2?
