PlayStation Plus announced

$49.99 per year, thats what it will cost you to be part of PlayStation Plus…why, you ask?

As a once ‘hardcore’ gamer turned casual by the circumstances of certain life responsibilities, I find this very interesting. I can no longer dedicate large blocks of time to playing games; these days I find that I can barely finish a game demo, let alone a full game. PlayStation Plus gives you a full hour of unrestricted gameplay on pretty much any game, for someone in my situation that alone could be worth the yearly fee.

‘Plus’ also provides automatic downloads behind the scenes for games and game related content and add cross game chat functionality, also very cool. In addition, subscribers will get priority access to Beta’s & Demos, discounts on PSN Store items, free game downloads, and DLC.

To me, the PS3 is a fantastic Blu-ray player as much as it is a game console. I would like to see the ‘Plus’ service expand beyond gaming and offer non-game related content as well, but even as-is Sony seems to be offering a decent amount of new functionality and content for the money.

You can visit http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus/ to find out more about ‘Plus’, and they are currently offering 3 months free when you subscribe for a year of service.

Sounds like a bargin especially for mediocre gamers like self. The “FULL GAME” trial for 1 hr is extremely awesome. Play full version of game up to an hour then decide to buy or not is alone a good reason to give PS+ a try!
