Impressions of the E3 Mortal Kombat Trailer

Impressions of the E3 Mortal Kombat Trailer

Mortal Kombat was a household name back in the 90′s, and that name was normally combined with talk of extreme gore, fatalities and, admittedly, some pretty loose controls. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe had the same issue with shoddy controls and less violence. But, with E3′s new trailer of Mortal Kombat, some of that seems to be changing.

The trailer shows off improved graphics as compared to MK vs. DC,  which have never been the strong suit of the franchise, but this time around, it looks pretty good. The amount of blood in the trailer is more similar to older MK games than it’s more recent T-rated outing, which should make fans happy.

It seems like this time around, combos and juggling are gonna be a bigger part of gamely, which should spice up a formula that’s getting kind of stale after this many years.

The trailer shows off a pretty decent selection of characters, but it seems that not all of the characters are shown in the trailer (or at least I hope not). The ones that are shown are familiar, and kind of reassuring that this is a rebirth of the good ole’ days.

All in all, I’m excited for this. I’m a fan of the older MK games, but MK vs. DC was kinda disappointing.  Hopefully it’ll come through with it’s promise of ultra-violence and familiar gameplay.
