So the holidays are approaching and so are new games, LOTS OF GAMES!
I have had the pleasure of trying some of the demos flying around and I am going to give you my views on them.
God of War 3
(special thanks to Geoff Chorney aka @InDisGeoff of http://interactivedistractions.com/)
I have 4 words for this:
I WANT IT NOW!
Seeing a well detailed Kratos in HD, blades of chaos flashing across the screen in deadly 5.1 fury, as he dives across the screen and cutting and ripping through his enemies. The joy of climbing a cyclops and riding him around and then to rip his eye out watching it spurt as he falls to the ground, defeated and very dead. Tackling a rampaging Centaur and eviscerating him and letting his rage spill to the floor. The deaths are amazingly detailed and poetic as you exact Kratos’s angry revenge on the Gods… from ripping of the head of Helios the sun god to the completely awesome ending, this demo sets up a serious anticipation for all God of War fans…
Bayonetta
From the moment she slowly and smoothly sets foot on the screen, moving slinky and sexy like with a controlled rage, you know this women is going to be trouble.
The demo starts by teaching you some of her insane moves and throws you right into battle on a falling clocktower face, with enemies attacking you from all sides… but your move set makes you prepared to handle them as you whip about in a frenzy of gunfire and sword strikes bring them down in a whirlwind of action….
Which leads me to worrying: Is this going to be a button mashing experience? Where the action is sooooo fast you can’t really think about what you are doing let alone plan for how to handle it?
Then theres the ring collection for energy, which makes the game feel like a frenetic murderous Sonic type experience, maybe time will tell but for the moment I am iffy about how this can go…
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
(online)
I instantly chose sniper and got my hands on a M24 bolt action rifle and ran about climbing buildings and hills, attempting to snipe fast moving players (I got some!)
The experience was not unlike the Battlefield I remember and it was very pleasant to have a large map and a clear plan of what my team was supposed to do. (We were Russians defending a base from invading Americans set on blowing up my bases)
All in all, FUN! and not the tight cramped feeling of instant death scenarios I endured in Modern Warfare 2… (and the Sniper class felt like it wa worth a damn)
…well I would like to continue on but thanks to the editor of Platform Nation (@Platform_Nation on twitter)
I am off to download and install the MAG beta and report that to you!

I tried out the Left 4 Dead 2 demo last night. Since I didn’t play the first one, I don’t have much of a frame of reference, but I did find it highly enjoyable. The part where you have to disable the alarm was a little tricky for someone who never played the series before, but overall I thought it was a very good.
L4D2 is definitely cool, and alot cooler if you didnt play the first one… my thing is that with so many games coming now and the ones i have it doesnt offer enough to purchase this at full price… rental for me!
