Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo

Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo

Ok, Ok, I know this has been reviewed to death, and maybe I’m showing up late to the party half in the bag with an attractive yet skanky prostitute, but flame suits on, cause here comes my burning two cents -

It’s Splinter Cell.

Now, I have an asbestos scrotum , so fire away. But let me tell you, I see the Splinter Cell series as fantastic, and the new one in the pipeline looks to be the magnum opus of the series. Is Arkham visually impressive? Yes. Are the controls solid? Yes. Does it make use of an endearing American pop icon that we all love? Yes. Is it non-mortal combat stealth based game play with sophisticated super science electronic instruments? Yes. It is a great, entertaining game. Groundbreaking? No. Afraid not. I think a lot of the over the top reviews come from the fact that the Batman franchise is something familiar to so many people, It just kind of sells itself. Ask someone on the street if they know who Sam Fisher is. Do they care about him? No. Would they plunk down 60$ US to be him for 10 hours? Probably not. Batman, like Lego and Star Wars, has far reaching crossover universal appeal to the casual gamer of all walks. Fortunately, the casual gamer / Batman fan will not be disappointed this time with their purchase. Solid purchase, solid game, better value on the PS3 side with the “Joker DLC” on PSN. GOTY material? Far too soon for that talk, remember how Fable 2 beat out Fallout 3 and GTA IV? MW2 is on the horizon, and she is a juggernaut to be reckoned with.

While I do agree there aren’t any new things in Batman:AA, I should point out that the magiks involved with combing Batman and “all those wonderful toys” in a solid and tight stealth based game w/ a working camera (it stays where its supposed to) and combat that doesn’t feel lame (its not SFIV but you gotta admit, when the Bat hits someone it actually feels like a connection and not a floaty stage punch), then throw in the thing that makes Bats different from alot of other superheroes “Detective mode” and you have yourself a game that even real gamers, not just the casual pick up player, can get behind, enjoy and demand more of.
I must forewarn though, this game has set itself up to need to have a AMAZING sequel to follow this! Even a “GOOD” sequel will be a flop in comparison…

While I am loathe to agree with anything Robby says…..for the first time i have to totally agree with him, be damned the consequences! Although no game could compare for me like L4d2(even with the new lame and uninteresting characters) and MW2!

Arkham Asylum is an AWESOME game. You are basically Batman and you get to do all this cool stuff to the badguys..and the stealth is amazing…it’s very fun and it doesn’t seems like work to go and sneak around like other games…I recommend this game if you have a Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3.

And thekingzombie is that all you do is play shooters all day?..LOL!
